C-130-A LOSSES ITS WINGS AND CRASHES AT WILDFIRE
This is one in a sequence taken from video shot by Tim Ill of KOLO-TV that shows a C-130A aircraft that lost its wings and crashed while battling a wildfire near Walker, Calif., in this June 17, 2002 file photo. Three crew members were killed in the crash. The aging airplanes that the Forest Service uses to fight wildfires have been under scrutiny before. But none of the audits or the probes or the memos had the impact of this video showing the air tanker come apart in flight.
